A Muslim A Tennessee family was arrested this week for allegedly beating a family member who had converted to Christianity.
The Metro Nashville Police Department responded to a welfare check Monday and found a young family member who had been “randomly cut” in the face with bumps and bruises, according to a report from Fox 17 Nashville.
The victim, whose age and name were not released, told law enforcement she was attacked because she had recently become a Christian. Police said in the arrest warrant that the family members were all Muslims.
“The victim told officers that his mother, brother and father hit him several times and spit in his face,” the report states. “Arrest records show his mother then took a knife and scratched the back of him with her right hand.”
The victim told police the attack didn’t stop until she arrived home for the welfare check. Police carried out the welfare check after being informed by the victim’s employer that something was happening to her.
The family reportedly demanded that the victim renounce his Christian faith and convert to Islam.
