An Afghan migrant manwanted for mutilating a mother and her two daughters in a corrosive substance attack in London, is a convicted sex offender who converted to Christianity and successfully applied for asylum after two failed attempts, according to several reports.
Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, 35, allegedly threw a corrosive alkaline substance from a metal coffee cup at a 31-year-old woman and her daughters, aged 3 and 8, during an incident Wednesday evening along the avenue Lessar in the the southern part from the city. All three remain in hospital.
The suspect tried to flee in a car, but crashed into a stationary vehicle and then fled, reports the BBC.

It has now emerged that Ezedi is a former Afghan asylum seeker who was allowed to remain in the UK despite his conviction for a sexual offense in 2018. He arrived in the UK on the back of a lorry in 2016.
He was sentenced to nine weeks in prison, suspended for two years, for sexual assault and 36 weeks in prison, also suspended for two years, for reporting. He was granted the right to stay in the UK on his third application in 2020, the BBC reports.
A priest guaranteed that Ezedi had converted to Christianity, which made his candidacy easier, the Daily Mail reports. He previously practiced the Muslim faith.

“While none of their issues are life-threatening, the injuries suffered by the woman and young girl could be life-changing,” Superintendent Gabriel Cameron said.
“It may be some time before hospital staff are able to say how serious it might be,” Cameron added.
Police also said three women – two in their 30s and one in their 50s – were injured when they came to the family’s aid.
They were all released from the hospital with minor burns. A man in his 50s who also helped declined to be hospitalized for minor injuries.
Five officers responded to the scene was injured but has since been released from the hospital after receiving treatment, according to Cameron.
“All of these members of the public and my officers deserve enormous recognition and praise for coming to the aid of this woman and children in what must have been a terrifying scenario,” he said. “We will give them all the support we can.”

The Met Police are now working to find Ezedi.
“We believe he arrived from Newcastle earlier today. We don’t yet know what led to this. We are working to establish the circumstances,” Cameron said.
“Although this was a targeted attack, this is a dangerous individual and we urgently need to find him,” he added.
