There is controversy over Lil Nas Again.
On November 29, Nas shared a video for a new song and asked his fans, “Do you mind if I go into my Christian era?”
In the videohe danced with long hair and a denim skirt, singing lyrics like “Father, hold out your hands to me / the lonely road seems to last the longest / help me in my plans / everything seems to lead nowhere.”
On the surface, it seemed like there was nothing controversial about the song. But the 24-year-old artist still received backlash, being accused of mocking Christianity.
Here’s some of what they had to say:
Even Fast and Furious actor Tyrese Gibson wrote: “You will all learn to stop playing with God…” and accused Lil Nas to “make fun of Jesus” with his new music.
In answer to Tyrese, Nas wrote, “This is really crazy because all I did was post a song about asking God for hope when you feel hopeless and y’all act like if I had posted a video of me burning down a church and peeing on a manger.”
Now Nas has replied to more backlash, highlighting a valid point regarding criticism of his past work. “I hate how the world has managed to change the narrative of ‘Call me by your name‘video,’ he wrote in X post (formerly known as Twitter).
“You hate that I symbolically appropriated the very place where you condemned homosexuals,” he continued. “So you flipped the script and convinced everyone that it was me ‘making fun of God’.”
On November 30, he wrote“You all see everything I do as a gimmick. When in reality, I’m just an artist who expresses himself in different ways. Whether I’m a cowboy, gay, satanic or now a Christian, you all find a problem. !You don’t watch out for anyone else like mine. Y’all hate me because I’m fun, cute and short.

Lil Nas You’re all very angry at him singing a song to God while wearing a wig and a skirt, but your aunts do that every Sunday.
