The 41-year-old tattoo artist – born Katherine von Drachenberg – appeared on a recent episode of the Relatable podcast with host Allie Beth Stuckey.
Kat, who was born in Mexicowas raised by her parents as Christian missionaries, adding that she “grew up with God” in the home.
The family moved to America when she was six, where the star revealed she “ended up losing her way” after adopting a “free-thinking mentality” that saw her “question everything”.
She ran away from home when she was just 14 and began to “resent” the Church.
“When I hit my 20s, I started getting interested – without knowing it – in new age stuff,” Kat explained.
She began practicing spiritualism which included tarot cards, meditation camps and spiritual retreats.
But Kat was forced to rethink her entire vision just before the confinement in 2020 after being left “miserable” and realizing “it obviously didn’t work for us.”
“I just started to re-evaluate. Going down the list of what I’m doing with my life and my outlook, then I got to the part about my spirituality and that’s where I started to really rethink a lot of things.
Kat began watching sermons every Sunday, adding, “I wanted more and more and so I started studying the Bible. »

Soon after, she threw out a series of her occult books, including those on witchcraft, meditation and yoga.
The LA Ink star said: “I had a really cool realization that night. I don’t want these crutches in my life anymore – and that’s how I really saw them. I just want Jesus.
“I feel like it’s a very narrow road. I feel like these breathing techniques or spells or nature worship – all of those things are just crutches. That’s not really my answer.
“I prefer to eliminate any distractions and that’s exactly what works for me.”
Kat revealed that getting rid of books was her way of “proclaiming my stance on certain things.”
“I don’t want anything to do with it anymore.”
Now revealing her stance, she said: “I’m on fire for Jesus. I don’t intend to see this subside.
“The more I learn, the more excited I am about things and the more comfortable I am with what’s going on in this world and what’s going on in my marriage or all of that.”
Kat, who now attends church every Sunday, was baptized in October and shared a video at the church ceremony attended by many of her tattooed friends.
Kat, who now attends church every Sunday, was baptized in October and shared a video at the church ceremony attended by many of her tattooed friends.
The clip, captioned with a simple cross, saw Kat – known for her gothic and macabre style throughout her career – dressed in a white dress as she took part in the immersion baptism.
The pastor said: “Katherine von Drachenberg, following your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ and in obedience to His divine command, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
The star – who met Jesse James following his split from Sandra Bullock in 2010 – was then submerged in water before coming out and hugging her pastor.
But the video sparked a lot of backlash, as she felt like “a whole community of people were attacking her and her family.”
Speaking about the criticism, she said: “It went from ‘Well, her hand wasn’t completely submerged underwater so it doesn’t count’… to ‘she’s pretending, it’s just for a PR stunt.” People weren’t there.
Kat explained: “I’m not an idiot. I knew that when I posted this video, people would have questions.
Describing it as “one of the most important days” of her life, she added: “To publicly proclaim thatI was the one who fixed some things.
‘He It was important for me to share that because I could have kept it to myself and moved on, but I was like no, this is something I want to celebrate and I want to be open and honest about it.
