Kat Von D has opened up about why she became a follower of Christianity.
The Mexican-American tattoo artist made headlines when she decided to denounce witchcraft and commit to Christianity.
In business, we call this rebranding.
The 41-year-old recently appeared in an episode of the Relatable podcast with host Allie Beth Stuckey to talk about her change in faith.
The businesswoman explained how her parents raised her as Christian missionaries and “grew up with God” in the home.
Shortly after moving to the US as a child, the tattoo artist revealed she began to move away from her conventional upbringing to embrace a “free-thinking mentality” that saw her “question everything “.
Then, when she reached her 20s, she did some “new age stuff.”
Tarot cards, crystals, the whole hippie witchcraft package.
However, during lockdown, instead of baking banana bread, Kat re-evaluated her outlook on life.
“(I was) going down the list of what I’m doing with my life and my outlook and then it got to the part of my spirituality and that’s when I started to really rethink a lot of things ” she said.
It started when she watched Sunday sermons online and read the Bible.
“I realized that night that I didn’t want these crutches in my life anymore – and that’s how I really saw them. I just want Jesus,” she said.
“I feel like it’s a very narrow road. I feel like these breathing techniques, these spells or nature worship – all of these things are just crutches. They’re not really my answer.”
She added that she was “on fire for Jesus” and that her light would not “go out anytime soon.”
