This is an objection I will often see on social media when I post biblical teachings that conflict with the LGBTQ worldview. Instead of engaging with my arguments, the comments section fills with accusations that Christians should be “closeted gays” because of their “obsession” with LGBTQ.
Of course, that’s not the case – we’re not obsessed (honestly, there are a lot of them, a lot things we’d rather talk about!), but we often talk about this issue because, well, the culture is obsessed with it! Since so many people are deceived, we must speak up and share biblical truth. That’s part of being salt and light in this culture. Think about it, if the church does not rise up against depravity and does not shine the light of gospel, calling people to repentance and truth, who will do it? Nobody goes! And the end result will be more fishing and darkness and moral decadence.
There is a warning for us in all of this and it is this: all sexual sin is a serious sin against one’s own body, against another person, and against the Lord.
But there is a warning for us in all this: any sexual act fishing is a serious fishing against one’s own body, against another person and against the Lord. No sexuality fishing is “no big deal” – consider that homosexuality and adultery carried the death penalty under Old Testament law, and Jesus equates lust with adultery. Sexual fishing is serious, whatever the form of the perversion of Godthe design takes!
This is another reason why we need to go back to Genesis for our worldview on this issue. You see, the Bible not only tells us what behavior or identity is bad, it gives us the models of what is right, good and true. And this plan is found in Genesis when God created a man and a woman and brought them together in a lifelong union that made them “one flesh.” Adultery, pornography, no-fault divorce, fornication, lust and many others are all perversions of GodOrder and design have been created.
Churches and parents must be sure that they teach the entirety of the advice of Godthe Word of Jesus, which helps young people to grow with a biblical vision of sexuality, anchored in GodIt is creation conception, which recognizes the sacred character of sexuality and the appropriate place for its expression: the marriage alliance!
I encourage you to learn more about “Genesis Plans” in our Executive CEO’s new book, Who am I? This is a great resource for parents and young people to understand GodThis is a very good design for gender and sexuality.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
