MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Shelby County pastor is out of jail and could be back in church Sunday after posting bond.
You may have seen him on “American Idol” or “The Voice.”
901 Church’s pastor, Steven Flockhart, was charged with identity theft and theft of merchandise, records show.
“We really liked the church and thought it was a great place to fit in,” said Scott Hibbard, a former member of Church 901.
Hibbard and his wife attended Church 901, which has two locations in Bartlett and Millington.
But now they are looking for a new church.
“Wait a minute now,” Hibbard said, referring to the identity theft and merchandise theft allegations against Flockhart. “That’s not what was explained to us at all. We were told it was something like he dropped someone by accident.”
Court records say three years ago, the alleged victim and Flockhart agreed to open a joint credit card specifically for the church.

Records say Flockhart called the victim and asked for her personal information.
The victim hesitated but gave him the information.
But last September, the victim said she noticed her credit score had suddenly dropped and she found a credit card with a balance of $6,400.
The victim said Flockhart admitted to opening the account.
“We’re really disappointed because we thought we found a new church,” Hibbard said. “On top of that, for him to do this in the position he’s in. It crosses so many lines, not just legally but morally.”
But this is not the first time for the pastor.
According to an affidavit, the pastor of Church 901 was sued in Georgia for falsifying documents.
“It’s not OK, but everyone was treating it like it was OK,” Hibbard said. “I was very disappointed. It frustrates me because we are followers of Christ and this is happening to someone else. It’s like, ‘What? For what ?”
FOX13 contacted 901 Church regarding these allegations.
They said they did not wish to comment but posted the following statement on their Facebook page:
“We are aware of recent allegations against Pastor Stevie Flockhart made by Dana Mark McCall. Even if we do not find the allegations factual, we believe in God’s vindication and stand firm in His sovereignty and truth. Please pray for our pastor and his family, for the hearts of those who seek to attack him, and for the church and our community.
Church 901 will be open for Sunday service.
FOX13 contacted the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. They said Pastor Flockhart posted $2,000 bail.
Flockhart is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
