Jason Jiménez has spent over 20 years ministering to families on the cultural, theological and religious issues of the day. And in all that time, he has yet to encounter a theological movement that has the potential to shake up the Church in the following way. »progressive Christianity” do.
He recently sat down with The Washington Times’ Higher Ground to discuss his new book, “Hijacking Jesus: How Progressive Christians Are Remaking Him and Taking Control of His Church» and the dangers of the progressive movement’s efforts to dismantle the Gospels.

“I firmly believe, and show historically, theologically, biblically and spiritually (in my book), that progressive Christianity is a false religion,” Mr. Jiminez said. said. “Let them not save Jesus of the church, that they don’t really improve that Jesus truly is and what He means to our culture and to us individually and spiritually for all eternity.
The bestselling author, who is also the founder of Strong ministriesstates that “the vast majority of progressive Christians believe that the Bible is a fantasy” and that the movement largely rejects the foundations of which Jesus is and what He did on the Cross. In other words, many progressive Christians have traded the gospel of salvation for that of social justice.
“What replaced (Jesus like God) does Jesus is more of a woke teacher – this is becoming very popular these days,” the author note. “That Jesus was an insurgent. He was a socialist. He championed moral causes aimed at ending poverty and the oppressive nature of religiosity. This is also a very popular view. And then one that has been growing for some time and you can see its influence in many prominent charismatic and devout churches is a mystical cult. Jesus.”

And while it’s no surprise that today’s culture, which has adopted a self-obsession, is remaking Jesus in his own image, the real danger Mr. Jimenez said, is that the Church is falling into the trap.
“Different people, the pollsters, when they evaluate Bible-believing churches who at one time affirmed the Trinity, Heaven and Hell, Jesus come to atone for our sins, they discover that less than 46% affirm and believe theologically and fundamentally that Jesus is God”, he explain. “They are taking over the Church, which means they are introducing false versions of Jesus, these reinventions. And so, when you think about it, it’s very disturbing, but it’s the truth when you look at the data.
This is why Mr. Jimenez says it is crucial for Bible-believing Christians to not only recover the fundamental truth of the Gospels, but also to engage with those who have embraced such erroneous theology.
“We need to make sure that we lovingly engage people (with) the way we see Jesus,” he note. “There are times when Jesus had to face sin. He was to oppose false doctrine that sought to influence or provoke treason. So we have to be discerning in these things.
“I would encourage Christians, in doing this, to make sure that they actually know and study the word of God,” he added. “So you have a defense against those who ask you for hope and why it is in you.”
