Former president Donald Trump leaned on faith in his speech addressing the National Religious Broadcasters Convention Thursday evening.
Trump congratulated the organization on its 80th anniversary and called the November election “a new fight for our nation’s survival,” telling the assembled participants that “the greatest threat does not come from outside our country.” .
“I am here today because I know that to achieve victory in this fight, just like in the battles of the past, we still need the hand of our Lord and the grace of God Almighty. We have to have that,” Trump said.
“Our country is being destroyed by a radical and corrupt left-wing political class that has become communist, Marxist and even fascist. I said we will never have a socialist state, and I was right. We have left socialism aside. Socialism is a good path compared to the current situation,” he added.
The former president also attacked his likely general election opponent, President Joe Biden, and said he had taken the gloves off since he was indicted last year.
“Since Joe Biden – and I’m not sure Biden knows what’s going on. In fact, I don’t think he knows he’s alive. And I never used to say that until I was indicted, and then I said, ‘OK, now I can say what it is,'” Trump said.
Trump also leaned on his claim that he would protect Christians under a second Trump administration, promising that he would “fight even harder for Christians.”
