Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois) denounced former President Trump online and said Christians who support him “don’t understand” their religion.
“I’m going to take a risk here: this man is not a Christian”, Kinzinger said on, formerly known as Twitter, in response to Trump’s Christmas message. “If you are a Christian who supports him, you don’t understand your own religion.”
Kinzinger, one of Trump’s fiercest critics within the Republican Party, said in his message that “Trump is weak, skinny, smelly, victimized, stomach ache, but he is not a Christian and he does not is not a ‘man of God’.
Kinzinger isolated himself from most members of the Republican Party after serving on the House select committee that investigated the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. He did not seek re-election in 2022.
In an unusual Christmas message on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump called various people he considers “seeking to destroy” the country to “rot in hell.”
The former president took aim at President Biden, special adviser Jack Smith and others in his vacation position.
“Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith, the uncontrollable Lunatic who just hired outside lawyers, fresh out of the SWAMP (unprecedented!), to help him with his WITCH HUNG poorly executed against ‘TRUMP’ and ‘MAGA,’” Trump’s message reads.
Trump has repeatedly lashed out at Smith, who is suing him for his actions related to the 2020 election and the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. In his post, he also lashed out at world leaders and U.S. lawmakers.
“Also included are world leaders, good and bad, but none of them are as bad and ‘sick’ as the TRAVELERS we have inside our country who, with their open borders, INFLATION , Afghanistan Surrender, New Green Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Army, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, Electric Car Madness and many more seek to destroy our Once Great United States. MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS! »concluded the former president.
Trump remains the Republican Party’s favorite to win the nomination in the upcoming election. He has a lead of 52.4 percent based on a aggregation of more than 300 surveys, according to The Hill partner Decision Desk headquarters. Trump also leads Biden by 2 percent based on more than 500 polls.
