A Nashville, Tennessee, teenager was treated for his injuries after his father, mother and older brother allegedly attacked him for converting from Islam to Christianity.
Nick Kadum, 57, Rawaa Khawaji, 46, and John Kadum, 29, have all been charged in the incident, according to WSMV.
Law enforcement was dispatched to the Kadums’ home on the evening of Tuesday, December 12, after the boy’s employer requested social assistance.
According to The Charlotte ObserverWhen police arrived at the home, they described the boy as wide-eyed, disheveled and shaking. He also had a cut on the back of his hand, unevenly cut hair and bumps on his face.
The boy told police that his family members attacked him after they discovered he had converted to Christianity. According to the boy, they “demanded that he recant and say that he was Muslim.” When he refused, the boy said his father, mother and brother “hit him repeatedly and spat in his face”, with his mother then cutting the back of his hand with a knife.
The three family members were taken into police custody.
Nick and John Kadum were charged with domestic assault and battery. Rawaa Khawaji faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Khawaji denies assaulting his son.
The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Michelle, assistant general manager at the McDonald’s where the teenager works, said WZTV that she was the one who called the police on her and that the boy’s pastor told her that John Kadum was threatening to kill the teen.
