A Muslim family Nashville, Tennessee, was arrested early Tuesday for allegedly assaulting their son after he converted to Christianity, according to local reports.
The victim told police that his father, mother and brother hit him several times and spat in his face, according to an arrest warrant obtained by FOX 17.
Arrest records show that the mother, Rawaa Khawaji, scratched the back of her right hand with a knife.
The victim accused his family of having demanded that he renounce Christianity and return to Islam.
Officers conducted a welfare check at the home after the victim’s employer called the police with concerns.
Officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reportedly found the victim “shaking and wide-eyed” with “disheveled hair.” The victim also appears to have been “randomly cut” with bumps on his face.

The victim was transferred to a local hospital for treatment.
The father, mother and brother were all arrested early Tuesday on charges of domestic violence, bodily injury and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Online records show the brother, John Kadum, and father, Nick Kadum, were released Tuesday afternoon.
The mother, Rawaa Khawaji, remains in custody on domestic violence charges.
