NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) – A mother, father and son were arrested after officers responded to a welfare check to find a juvenile who appeared to have been “randomly cut” with bumps on his face.
According to an arrest warrant, the victim told police his family attacked him because he had recently become a Christian. The family is Muslim, the warrant adds.
The victim told police that his mother, brother and father hit him several times and spat in his face. Arrest records show his mother then took a knife and scratched his back with her right hand.
His family demanded that he reconsider his Christian belief and declare that he was Muslim at the time of the attacks, the arrest report added. The victim said the abuse continued until law enforcement arrived at the home.
When the police saw the victim, he was “trembling, eyes wide” and his hair “disheveled”. The boy was transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to the arrest record.
Officers responded to the welfare check at the Nashville home on Dec. 11 after the boy’s employer called police to express concerns.
John Kadum and Nick Kadum were charged with assault and bodily injury. Rawaa Khawaji was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
All three were taken into custody without incident.
