Music shapes our hearts and minds. What we fill our ears with – for better or worse – shapes who we are and what we love. This is one of the reasons why music is an important part of Christian worship. and catechesis throughout the history of the Church. In church, we not only repeat our confession by speaking creeds and hearing biblical truths preached; We sing these confessions and biblical truths. And as we sing, God’s truth takes root deeper in our souls.
As new converts make the difficult transition to living wholeheartedly for Christ and his kingdom, in a world where Christian values and theology are increasingly foreign, immersion in beautiful Christian music and worship is essential. This happens first and foremost in places of congregational worship, but it should also happen throughout the week in Christians’ homes when they live, in their cars when they travel, or in their headphones when they working.
In church, we not only repeat our confession by speaking creeds and hearing biblical truths preached; We sing these confessions and biblical truths. And as we sing, God’s truth takes root deeper in our souls.

In a time of grief? This FREE eBook will guide you through biblical lament
Lament is how we bring our grief to God, but it is a neglected dimension of the Christian life for many Christians today. We need to rediscover the practice of honest spiritual wrestling that gives us permission to express our pain and grapple with our grief.
In Dark clouds, deep mercy, pastor and TGC Board member, Mark Vroegop, explores how the Bible, through the psalms of lament and the book of Lamentations, gives voice to our pain. It invites readers to cry, to struggle, and to draw from the rich reservoir of grace and mercy that God offers in the darkest moments of our lives.
